A Wonderful Week in Yucatan, Mexico!

A week of glorious colors, flavors, history, sunshine and sudden downpours! What a terrific getaway we had with friends - scouring the city of Playa del Carmen for the fish market and tortillaria favored by the locals. Filling our basket with poblanos, pasillas, avocados, limes, and spices previously unknown to us in the market where Jacque (Pepin) and Rick (Bayless)shop. Being absolutely WOWED by the building, culture and language of the ancient Maya people. Iguana slinking about everywhere! Salt water swims and sunshine soaking into our winter bones. Watching a rambunctious bicycle parade as it approached its destination - the sunwashed cathedral in Valladolid, as we gobbled up hot caramel filled churros. A beautiful, dream-like week!

We've been having a BLAST! Fall is the BEST!

All of our kids and grands were here for the Balloon Fiesta and oodles of fun together! I think there is nothing (NOTHING!) funner than watching the three little grands together....unless it is the grands with the addition of their two Kennington cousins...ALL playing together! These times absolutely cracked Grubepop and me up!! We did some archery with our girls, Abby and Piper - amazing bullseyes! And Ben rode on the ATV with his dad - hysterical!! We all had such fun meals together outside on the cool autumn evenings. Walks, games (Minion's LIFE! So funny!), and story times before bed...my personal fave. These three littles at squeaky clean bedtime...listening as we read Peter Pan. Love it! It was all simply....perfection. Since the kids left, Captain and I have undertaken a new project: That of tearing down a big pole barn that served no purpose for us. A couple of fantastic neighbor men and my Dad jumped right in to help us out. We went from start to finish in one day! These guys are awesome! We now have beautiful open space with a killer view, and a nice pile of re-usable resources stacked crisply in our horse barn. Life is so GOOD!

Celebrating for all I'm worth....FALL!

Fred and I saw Venus in the very early morning sky today. We went back to bed for awhile and when we got up, we harvested pumpkins, shining up the sweetest (most sincere) looking fella and placing him on the kitchen window ledge in the still not-so bright morning light. After one of the strangest Summers I can remember, FALL is here at last. Happy Fall to you!
