Reflecting on a time, forty years back. And celebrating!

In the Spring of 1975, I was exploring new passions. I had completed final exams, finishing my freshman college year, an academic year in which I had wrapped up 36 credit hours in those two semesters. I had reveled in the first semester, pursuing a Fine Art degree; in the second semester, I had switched to a Nursing degree, which also thrilled me. For kicks I also had a Beginning Golf class, and my final exam day for that class had been one of the craziest days of my life. On May 19th, my first day of freedom from classes, a friend came over to spend the day with me; it was her mission to help me plant my first garden. I was euphoric! Thus began this new passion! We gardened together all day long. Bliss! And when my head hit the sheets that night, it was clear that something new was about to emerge. At 1:15 on Tuesday afternoon, our precious son, Joshua was born! This tiny beautiful son was my greatest passion to date! Joshua has been, since "day one", my kindred spirit! And one of my greatest, GREATEST delights! With his arrival, I realized my most ardent life passion - passion for my children! Today he is facing the first day of his 41st year. Wow! I'm trying to remember if it is the 4th or the 5th decade of life in which we human beings strive to achieve "Mastery". In either case, and I think there is plenty of room for overlap, I have every confidence that Joshua will achieve mastery in this decade of his beautiful life. I hope your 40th Birthday was as fabulous for you as your actual birth day was for me, Ichiban! What a gift you are to me! Live large, dear son!

Happy Mother's Day!

To all who "mother".....I wish you a beautiful day. And to the special mothers in my life, especially my own, I wish you love. And speaking of love, here are the littlest loves of my life, who make me such a happy, HAPPY grandma! (And...also, a picture of a happy rose bush that greeted me with so many tiny pink blooms this morning!)
